LION

"Lion" 36 x 48 inch Oil on Canvas

A while ago my husband and I went to see Brandon Lake perform at his 'Tear Off The Roof' concert. As the song "Lion" started, the big screens showed a massive lion taking powerful strides. The music sang out, " Hail hail lion of Judah, let the lion roar," and the lion dominated the stage with his presence.

With the way the music stirred the atmosphere you could feel the strength of each step the lion made. I was so taken by this moment, right then I decided this would be one of my next paintings.

The lion has often been rendered a symbol of Christ. It represents His power and His authority as king. For this painting, I was drawn to the idea of paying special attention to the movement of the lion's body as He walks His path. There is nothing in His way - He is unshaken and unstoppable.

Here is a link to the performance if you want to check it out where the inspiration came from.
