At His Feet: A Reflection on Love, Worship, and Restoration

I’m thrilled to share my latest oil painting, “At His Feet” (24" x 48"), inspired by one of the most tender and intimate moments in scripture: Luke 7, where a woman washes the feet of Jesus with her tears and hair.

"A sinful woman in the town learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house. So she brought an alabaster jar of perfume and stood behind Jesus at his feet, crying. She began to wash his feet with her tears, and she dried them with her hair, kissing them many times and rubbing them with the perfume." — Luke 7:37–38

This scene has always moved me. It’s a story of vulnerability, surrender, and extravagant love. The woman’s offering was costly—She gave all she had. Yet, in this act of worship, Jesus does something remarkable: He receives her not as a sinner to be condemned, but as a beloved child to be restored.

What this story teaches us about holiness

True holiness is not about exclusion—it is about embracing the broken with love that restores. In her tears, perfume, and hair, we see a radical worship that pours out fully, not carefully measured. And in Jesus’ response, we see grace, mercy, and redefined holiness.

Bringing the story to life through art

In painting “At His Feet”, I wanted to capture the intimacy and vulnerability of this encounter. Every brushstroke aimed to express the contrast of humility and devotion, brokenness and beauty. The light, the texture, and the scale of the canvas are meant to draw the viewer in, to stand at His feet and witness this tender moment anew.

This painting is an invitation to reflect: How can we come to Jesus with all we have, unguarded and open? How can we offer Him our hearts without reservation, knowing that His love restores and redefines us?

I hope this work encourages you to reflect on your own journey of surrender, worship, and restoration. May it remind you that Jesus receives you not for what you have done, but for who you are in Him: beloved.
